Our History

Proudly Part of the Sunraysia Football Community Since 1973

Humble Beginnings: The Milan Era (1973–1979)

Mildura City Soccer Club traces its roots back to 1973, when it was founded under the name Milan Soccer Club. A small but passionate group of local football enthusiasts formed the club with a simple goal: to bring people together through the game they loved. The team played its early matches at the Old Aero 5 ground, quickly building a reputation for determination, sportsmanship, and community spirit. The club’s colors—red and black—were chosen in this formative period and have remained a powerful symbol of our identity ever since.

A New Identity: Becoming Mildura City (1979)

In 1979, the club took a bold step forward, officially changing its name to Mildura City Soccer Club. This change marked the beginning of a new era, reflecting both our regional pride and our ambitions for growth. Despite the name change, our commitment to tradition remained strong. The red and black stripes continued to fly proudly, and the club began to gain momentum across the local football scene.

Home at Kenny Park: Building for the Future (1987–Present)

A major turning point came in 1987, when the club relocated to Kenny Park in Merbein. With strong community support and countless volunteer hours, we established state-of-the-art clubrooms and playing facilities—widely recognized today as among the finest in the Sunraysia Soccer League. Kenny Park quickly became more than a football ground—it became the heart of our club. From weekend matchdays to training nights and community events, it’s where memories are made, friendships are forged, and champions are developed.

Commitment to Youth: Growing the Game

Mildura City has always believed in developing young talent and nurturing the next generation of footballers. Our sub-junior and junior development programs are at the core of this vision. Every year, hundreds of young players wear the red and black with pride, learning not only skills and tactics but also teamwork, respect, and resilience. With strong coaching staff and a supportive club culture, we’ve built a pathway from grassroots to senior football that is second to none.

Empowering Women in Football

In 2007, we made club history by establishing our first Women’s team. Just one season later, in 2008, they celebrated their first premiership win—a monumental achievement that laid the foundation for women’s football at Mildura City. Today, our women’s program continues to grow, giving female players of all ages a place to develop, compete, and belong.

A Tradition of Success: Senior Premierships

Our Senior Men’s team has enjoyed sustained success across multiple generations. Known for skill, grit, and unity, they have proudly brought home nine premiership titles, with triumphs in:

1977 • 1979 • 1989 • 1993 • 1996 • 2007 • 2022 • 2023 • 2024

Each championship tells a story of hard work, community spirit, and unwavering belief—qualities that define the Mildura City ethos.

Looking Ahead

As we reflect on more than five decades of football, we’re proud of where we’ve come from—and excited about where we’re going. Whether you’re a player, a parent, a volunteer, or a lifelong supporter, you’re part of the Mildura City family.

Here’s to the next chapter in our story.
